Want to Make More Online Sales this Holiday Season?

Make it Easier for your Customers to Buy!

It's a no-brainer. If you are selling online, make it easy for your online customers to find what they are looking for, and they will buy more from you. Here are some ideas to get your website going in the right direction:

Add a Current Sale Items section with an easy-to-find link on your website's home page. Be sure to keep it up to date, especially if your offline advertising methods generate traffic to your website.

Add a Gift Ideas section with popular and seasonal items broken down into categories such as age range, theme or price range. Be sure to include quick-picks, such as pre-wrapped items that are ready for instant gift-giving.

Adding a Clearance section will appeal to bargain-hunters and help you get rid of excess inventory.

Shoppers are in a hurry to get everything done, and you don't want them to get frustrated and move on to the next website within 30 seconds. Make your website easy to navigate. Add search capability so customers can easily find any specific items they are looking for. Make shipping information easy to find so there are no surprises at checkout -- checkout surprises lead to abandoned shopping carts.

Encourage repeat sales to existing customers....send out an e-newsletter to your customer list with visually appealing information, seasonal tips, recipes or ideas that relate to your products, and a link to those Gift Ideas to make shopping easy.

Ways to Increase Traffic to Your Website:

Make sure each of your pages has valuable and relevant content and is optimized for search engines.

Place banner ads on relevant high-traffic websites. For example, if you own an interior design firm, place your banner in the online Home & Garden section of your local newspaper.

Remember that it takes time for search engines to index your site. For more immediate results, invest in a Pay Per Click campaign such as Google's AdWords.
